About the membership

  • Member of the Union can become any seafarer who, at the time of accession, sail actively and accept all objectives and activities defined by the Statute of the Union. Also, members can be accepted based on the recommendation of one of the members, if they provide the proof of a clear criminal record at the time of accession to the Union. The decision on the membership is made based on the majority of votes by Board Management. The membership is gained by signing the application form and paying the membership fee as agreed. A record of members of the Union is kept in a Register of members for which is in charge one of the Vice-Presidents of the Board Management.
  • Honorary Member of the Union can become any legal entity or individual who contributed by its/his special dedication to the realization of the Union’s tasks, objectives and development of the Union.
  • Member may withdraw from the Union by giving a written statement of resignation. A membership in the Union can and shall be ceased upon the decision of the Assembly in the event of non-compliance with the provisions of the Statute or damage to the reputation of the Union. Membership is suspended in the case of criminal proceedings ex officio against the member. If the case is acquitted, the membership continues, if convicted – the member ceases to be the member of the Union.

Member has the right to:

  • Participate in achieving the objectives of the Union, on an equal footing with other members;
  • Directly participate in decision making at the Assembly, as well as through the other bodies of the Union;
  • Elect and be elected in the bodies of the Union;
  • Be promptly and fully informed about the activities of the Union.

Member is required to:

  • Actively contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the Union;
  • Participate in all activities, in accordance with the interest of the Union;
  • Pay the membership fee;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrative Board of the Union.
